T&J CONSULTING AND SOLUTIONS
FAQ

Straight answers.

The questions we get on nearly every call. Don't see yours? Ask us directly.

What area do you cover?
On-site work — wiring, mounting, installs, racks — covers the NYC metro area. Consulting, managed IT, executive support, and UI/UX work run remotely, so location doesn't matter for those.
How quickly do you respond?
Messages get a same-day reply during business hours. Managed IT and executive support clients get a direct line with priority response.
How does pricing work?
Site survey first, then a written scope with a flat quote. No hourly meter running while we work, and no change orders unless the scope itself changes — which you approve first.
Is the site survey really free?
Yes, for homes and small businesses in our service area. We walk the space, check signal, trace what's already there, and give you a plan — whether or not you hire us for the install.
Do you conceal wires when mounting TVs?
Whenever the wall allows it, yes — in-wall concealment is our default, including power solutions that meet code. Where in-wall isn't possible (brick, concrete, rentals), we'll show you the cleanest alternative before we drill anything.
Which smart home devices do you install?
Video doorbells, security cameras, and smart thermostats across the major platforms. We'll recommend hardware that fits your existing setup — and if you already bought the gear, we'll install and configure that instead.
What does managed IT actually include?
Monitoring, patching, backup oversight, and security for your machines and network, plus a direct line for support. Scope is set per client — some want everything handled, some just want backups verified and a number to call.
Can you help us plan a server room, not just build it?
Yes — server room consulting is its own service. You get a written spec covering rack sizing, heat load, UPS sizing, and room sizing before you commit to hardware or a space. We can then build it, or hand the spec to your contractor.
Do you do full conference room AV integration?
We install basic office AV — displays, audio, huddle spaces — directly. Full room integration projects are delivered with trusted specialist partners, with us managing the project so you still have one point of contact.
How disruptive is a server or office move?
Planned correctly: barely. Moves are scheduled to the hour, usually overnight or over a weekend, with a cutover checklist and verification before anyone comes in Monday. The goal is a boring move day.
Is there a minimum job size?
No. A single TV mount or one doorbell install is a fine job. Small jobs done well are how most of our long-term clients started.
What happens after the install?
Every run is tested and labeled, and you get documentation of what was installed. If you want ongoing coverage, home IT management and managed IT plans keep us on call. Either way, you know exactly what's in your walls.
